On 25 August 2023, the momentum of progress continued as the second round of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 or National ID Registration and the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) unfolded in Brgy. Datu Ampunan, Laak. This event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Local Government Unit of Laak and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao de Oro, ensuring a smooth and accessible registration process for all clients.
In response to the request of Punong Barangay Erwin Loquina of Datu Ampunan, this second round of registration activities became a testament of commitment in ensuring that the Dibabawon tribe can access vital government services through PhilSys. This undertaking was graced by Municipal Mayor Antonio L. Libuangan who highlighted the significance of this activity both for the community and the local governance.
Twenty-eight (28) Dibabawons successfully completed the PhilSys Step 2 Registration. Adding this count to the previously registered 65 individuals last 09 August 2023, a total of 93 Dibabawons took part in this endeavor.
Kudos to the proactive strategy of the PSA, 33 printed ePhilIDs were distributed to the PhilSys-registered Dibabawons.
Concurrently, the event extended its support to the PBRAP implementation, reaching a cumulative total of 130 individuals being assisted for their late birth registration.
The Dibabawon tribe expressed their appreciation for the government’s commitment in providing essentials services even to the marginalized and vulnerable communities. The expansion of PhilSys operations will continue to include all Filipinos, regardless of ethnicity and status, in line with the government’s vision of inclusive identification system.
