Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ranks 5th among the 69 government agencies, according to Makati Business Club (MBC).
Based on The Makati Business Club Executive Outlook Survey (EOS), for the second semester of 2019, released July 24, 2019, majority of 69 government agencies received a positive satisfactory rating from the business executives. The survey determines the perception of the business sector on government leadership and public service.
The EOS was conducted last June 19 to July 22. It was the first time MBC conducted the survey since 2015. The survey covered 100 executives from 100 companies and asked whether they were satisfied or not satisfied with the performances of 69 government agencies in the past year (from July 2018 to June 2019).
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas earned the highest satisfaction rating with a score of 97 percent. During 2015, BSP also earned the top spot of MBC EOS (see Table 1).
Alongside BSP in this year’s top 5 are the National Economic and Development Authority who earned the second place with 85 percent, followed by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration with 84 percent, Department of Trade and Industry with 83 percent, and Philippine Statistics Authority who secured the fifth spot with 81 percent satisfactory rating.
Also included in top 10 are the Department of Finance, Board of Investments, Department of Tourism, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority who tied on the 10th place.
According to MBC, agencies that showed noticeable improvement in satisfaction ratings were the Office of the Vice President (75 percent this year against 11.9 in 2015) and Department of Transportation (50% from 19% in 2015). On the other hand, agencies that experienced notable drop in satisfaction ratings were the Department of Foreign Affairs (42% from 89.4%) and Department of Labor and Employment which was at 44 percent from 79.4 percent.
Out of 69 government agencies and institutions, 25 agencies had a negative satisfaction rating which includes the bottom five: Presidential Communications Operations Office, Department of Agriculture, House of Representatives, Bureau of Customs, and, for the bottom spot, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System with a score of 21.9 percent rating.
