In celebration of the 34th National Statistics Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) of Davao de Oro conducted a Provincial Elimination of the 27th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) last 23 October 2023 at Nabunturan. Reyhan James O. Dagmil of Monkayo College of Arts, Science and Technology (MONCAST) was declared champion while Marielle O. Nabarete and Jane C. Mamon of Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC) Main Campus were the second and third placers of the 27th PSQ Davao de Oro Provincial Elimination. These students will represent Davao de Oro during the 27th PSQ Regional Elimination which will be held on 10 November 2023.

In this search for the country’s young statistics whizzes, six (6) universities and colleges (SUCs) of Davao de Oro participated in the event, namely, MONCAST, DDOSC Main Campus, DDOSC Montevista Campus, DDOSC New Bataan Campus, DDOSC Maragusan Campus, and Kolehiyo ng Pantukan. Each SUC sent two participants and all of them underwent the challenge of answering the easy, average, and difficult rounds of the contest which covers all subject matters on statistics.

The activity ended with the awarding of certificates to all contestants, their coaches, and participating SUCs with special tokens. Conversely, the top three students who emerged as winners of the 27th PSQ Davao de Oro Provincial Elimination received a medal, certificate, and cash price.

As these winners will represent the province during the regional elimination, they are encouraged by the host agency to prepare for the next level with hopes that one of them will represent Davao Region for the 27th PSQ National Championship.
