PSA Davao Occidental registered more than 16 thousand persons in PhilSys for year 2023 

The PSA Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office had registered 16,258 individuals in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for the whole year of 2023. A cumulative total of 257,867 persons were registered in the province since the start of PhilSys registration in 2021. The said accomplishment is 84.33% of the target of 305,784 (Table 1).

PhilSys Registration of Children was still the highest in the 2nd half of 2023

PhilSys registration of children aged 5-14 years old was still the highest in number with a total of 5,076 registrants from July to December of the year 2023, followed by teens and adults aged 15-59 with 2,331 and senior citizens aged 60 and above with 153 registrations. (Table 2)

Municipality of Malita had the highest number of PhilSys registrants in 2nd half of 2023

Out of the five municipalities of Davao Occidental, the Municipality of Malita contributed the largest share in the number of registrants which is 49.1 percent of the total cumulative number of registrants in the province for the period July to December 2023. This was then closely followed by the Municipality of Jose Abad Santos with 26.8 percent, Santa Maria with 13.5 percent, Don Marcelino with 10.5 percent and Sarangani with 0.2 percent. (Table 3)

The PhilSys Step 2 Registration was conducted through mobile registration approach in different barangays, school registrations in Elementary Schools, High Schools and Colleges, and different caravans of the five municipalities of the provinces.

Walk-in/Sequential Registration is highest in terms of Registration Mode for July – December 2023

In terms of Mode of Registration, walk-in/sequential registration was the highest with a total of 7,502 registrants, followed by Assisted Step 1 Pre-Registration with 19 registrants and Online Step 1 Pre-Registration with only 39 registrants.

Eighty-one percent of the Total Population of Davao Occidental had been registered in the PhilSys

Eighty-one percent of the total population of the province had been registered in the PhilSys based on the results of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing of 317,159 individuals.

Among municipalities, Malita leads with 85.37 percent of completion, followed by Santa Maria with 84.38 percent, Jose Abad Santos with 79.32 percent, followed by Don Marcelino with 76.17 percent and the municipality of Sarangani with 68.98 percent. (Table 4)

 

Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on August 06, 2018, aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines. The valid proof of identity provided by the PhilSys shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions and shall be a social and economic platform that promotes seamless social service delivery and strengthens financial inclusion for both public and private services. As a foundational digital ID System, the PhilSys will transform how services are delivered in the Philippines, and accelerate our transition into a digital economy, including to enable presence-less, paperless, and cashless transactions.
