1. Regional Headline Inflation
The year-on-year headline inflation of Davao Region remained at 0.6 percent in March 2025 from February 2025. In March 2024, the region’s inflation was higher at 4.8 percent. (Table 1 and Figure 1).
The major contributors to the region’s overall inflation in March 2025 were Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 2.8 percent from 2.7 percent; followed by Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 4.3 percent from 4.4 percent; and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 0.7 percent from 0.3 percent.
Slower annual increments were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Clothing and Footwear at 2.7 percent from 2.9 percent;
b. Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance at 3.1 percent from 3.5 percent; and
c. Transport at -2.7 percent from -2.1 percent.
On the other hand, faster annual increments were recorded in the indices of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at -0.2 percent from -0.3 percent; Information and Communication at 0.9 percent from 0.5 percent; and Recreation, Sport, and Culture at 4.7 percent from 4.6 percent.
Meanwhile, Health at 2.5 percent; Education Services at 7.8 percent; Financial Services at 0.0 percent; and Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 2.9 percent retained the previous month’s inflation rate.
2. Davao Region Food Inflation
The region’s Food inflation accelerated at -0.5 percent in March 2025 from -0.7 percent the previous month’s inflation. In March 2024, the Food inflation was higher at 8.7 percent. (Table 3)
The commodity group of Vegetables, Tubers, Plantains, Cooking Bananas, and Pulses, at 1.2 percent from -5.5 percent, was the main contributor to the uptrend of the region’s Food inflation. Additionally, the indices of the following commodity groups recorded higher annual growth rates during the month namely: Meat and Other Parts of Slaughtered Land Animals at 6.1 percent from 4.3 percent; Milk, Other Dairy Products, and Eggs at 3.4 percent from 2.8 percent; Oils and Fats at 11.7 percent from 9.0 percent; Fruits and Nuts at 2.6 percent from 1.3 percent; and Sugar, Confectionery, and Desserts, at -0.9 percent from -1.2 percent.
On the other hand, the following food groups recorded a slower annual increase during the month:
a. Cereals and Cereal Products, at -8.4 percent from -6.2 percent;
b. Fish and other Seafood at 3.1 percent from 3.7 percent; and
c. Ready-made Food and other Food Products n.e.c. at 6.5 percent from 6.9 percent.
3. Regional Inflation Rates
At the national level, the country's headline inflation declined to 1.8 percent from its previous month’s inflation at 2.1 percent. (Table 4)
Among the 17 administrative regions, Region II (Cagayan Valley) had the highest inflation rate at 2.9 percent, followed by Region VI (Western Visayas) at 2.7 percent and Region VII (Central Visayas) at 2.4 percent. On the other hand, Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN) recorded the lowest inflation rate at -0.2 percent. (Table 4 and Figure 2)
