Volume of Palay Production increased by 13.86 percent in 4th Quarter 2024
The total volume of palay production in the fourth quarter of 2024 reached 711.93 metric tons, which is 13.9 percent higher than the 625.26 metric tons recorded during the same period in 2023, as shown in Table 1. Furthermore, the total area harvested increased by 5.70 percent, from 228.00 hectares in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 241.00 hectares in the same period of 2024.

Irrigated palay production increased by 19.7 percent
Irrigated palay production increase by 19.7 percent estimated at 609.96 metric tons in fourth quarter 2024 compared last year same quarter recorded at 509.76 metric tons as shown in Figure 1. Area harvested increased by 16.9 percent from 118.00 hectares in fourth quarter 2023 to 138.00 hectares in fourth quarter 2024 as shown in Figure 2.

Rainfed palay production decreased by 11.7 percent
Rainfed palay production decreased by 11.7 percent, from 115.50 metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 101.97 metric tons in the same period of 2024, as shown in Figure 3. Furthermore, the area harvested for rainfed palay also decreased by 6.4 percent, from 110.00 hectares in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 103.00 hectares in 2024 as shown in Figure 4.

Yield for palay production increased by 7.7 percent
The yield for palay production in 4ht quarter of 2024 increased by 7.7% compared to same quarter of 2023, from 2.74 metric tons per hectare to 2.95 metric tons. Yield for irrigated palay production in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 2.3 percent, from 4.32 metric tons per hectare in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 4.42 metric tons in 2024 as shown in Figure 5. Meanwhile, yield for rainfed palay decreased by 5.7 percent, from 1.05 metric tons per hectare in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 0.99 metric tons in the same period of 2024, as shown in Figure 6.

TECHNICAL NOTES
Area Harvested - is refers to the total area harvested for palay during the reference period. It may be less than or equal to the total area planted for palay.
Crop Production - this refers to quantity produced and actually harvested during the reference period. It includes those harvested but damaged, stolen, given away, consumed, given as harvesters’ and threshers’ shares, reserved, etc. Palay production from seed growers which are intended for seed purposes is excluded from the survey.
Irrigated- area with irrigation facilities supplying water through artificial means like gravity, force/power, pump, etc.
Rainfed- area that is solely dependent upon rainfall for its water supply.
Yield - an indicator of productivity derived by dividing the total production by the area harvested.
