Padada, Davao del Sur

The 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) revealed that the Municipality of Padada, Davao del Sur had a total population of 29,878 people. Out of this total, the household population involved 99.8% percent or a little bit lower of 29,825 persons. This figure posted a 12.4 growth rate compared with the 2015 total population (26,587).

Of the 29,825 total household population in 2020, 15,072 (50.5%) were males while 14,753 (49.5%) were females. When it comes to age group, 7,999 (26.8%) were under 15 years of age or the so-called young dependents. On the contrary, 19,552 persons aged 15-64 years were the so-called working age or economically active population (65.6%) while those in age groups 65 years and over (old dependents) comprised the remaining 2,274 (7.6%).

 

Meanwhile, there were more males 12,747 (51.2%) than females 12,153 (48.8%) in the 0 to 54 age group.  On the other hand, among the older age group (55 years and over) a reverse scenario happened as females 2,600 (52.8%) overpowered 2,325 (47.2%) the males.

 

Sex Ratio showed 102 males per 100 females

  1. The sex ratio in Padada, Davao del Sur was figured out at 102 in 2020.  This translates that there were 102 males for every 100 females in the area.
     
  2. In 2020 CPH, children below 15 years had a sex ratio of 105 males per 100 females while those aged 15 to 64 had a sex ratio of 104 males per 100 females.  Furthermore, those aged 65 years and over had a sex ratio of 81 per 100 females that portrays a longer life expectancy among females than males or males had a higher mortality rate than females in the older age groups. (Figure 2)

 Median age sets at 29.1 years

1.    For the 2020 CPH, the Median age of Padada, Davao del Sur was computed at 29.1 which means to say that half of the household population was younger than 29.1 while the other half was older than 29.1 years.

 

Dependency ratio attributed at 53 dependents

2.    Padada, Davao del Sur had an overall dependency ratio of 53 that implies that for every 100 working-age or economically active population there were about 53 dependents specifically 41 young  and 12 old dependents respectively

 

Young males dominated females under 5 years old

  1. Children below 5 years old accounted 8.4 percent (2,520) of the household population.  The sex ratio lingered the same at 105 males per 100 females.

School age slightly declined in 2020

1.    The 2020 CPH results showed that the school-age population (5 to 24 years old) reported a total of 10,663 persons (35.8%) of the household population while in 2015, 9,640 (36.3%) school-age population was recorded persons. (Table 2 and Figure 3)

Voting age is at 67.8 percent

  1. Voting age is the ages 18 years old and over. Based on 2020 CPH results, 67.8 percent or 20,230 persons are of voting age in the municipality household population, while 17,388 persons or 65.6 percent posted in 2015. (Table 2 and Figure 4)

Senior citizens represent 11.9 percent of the household population

  1. In Padada, Davao del Sur residents 60 years and over are referred to as senior citizens.  They comprised 11.9 percent (3,546) of the household population in 2020, higher than 1.5% percent (2,761) registered in 2015.  By Sex, there were more females, 1,902 (53.6%) than males, 1,644 persons or (46.4 percent) among the senior citizens in 2020.  Likewise, the same trend was detected in 2015 wherein 1,496 (54.2%) were females and 1,265 (45.8%) were females with a sex ratio of 85. (Table 2 and Figure 5)

50.5 percent of the female population are of reproductive age

  1. Women of reproductive age (15-49 years of age) comprised 7,446 or 50.5 percent of the 14,753 female household population in 2020.  These data were above one percent compared with the 49.5% percent (6,553) posted in 2015. (Table 2 and Figure 6)

Aging index escalates by 8.5 points from 35.9 in 2015 to 44.3 in 2020

  1. In Padada, Davao del Sur, the aging index or the proportion of person aged 60 years and over per 100 persons under the age of 15 years was computed at 44.3 percent in 2020.  This translates that there are around 44 persons aged 60 years and over for everyone hundred children under 15 years old.  In 2015, the aging index was 8.5 points lower at 35.9. (Table 2 and Figure 7)
