Special Release No - Registered Deaths in Davao Region: 2019

An average of 89 deaths daily in Davao Region. Reported deaths in Davao Region in 2019 reached 32,384, an increase of 8.4 percent than the previous year’s 29,870 deaths. This is equivalent to a crude death rate (CDR) of 6.2 or about six (6) persons per thousand population. An average of 89 persons died daily in 2019, which translates to 4 deaths per hour. The number of deaths in Davao Region from 2010 to 2019 showed an increasing trend except in the years 2013 and 2014. The increase during the ten-year period is 36.6 percent, from 23,711 in 2010 to 32,384 in 2019 (Figure 1 and Table 1). One in three deaths recorded in City of Davao. Among the provinces and Highly Urbanized City (HUC) in Davao Region, City of Davao had the highest number of deaths in 2019, with 11,146 (34.4% of region’s total deaths), followed by Davao del Norte with 7,110 (22.0%) and Davao de Oro with 4,583 (14.2%).

Special Release - Registered Births in Davao Region: 2019

An average of 240 registered babies born daily in the region. A total of 87,770 live births was registered in Davao Region in 2019 which is equivalent to a crude birth rate (CBR) of 16.8 or 17 births per thousand population. On the average, there were about 240 registered babies born daily or 10 babies per hour.
The number of registered live births from 2009 to 2016 showed an increasing trend, except in the year 2013. A decreasing trend was observed from 2016 to 2019 (Figure 1 and Table 1). In the region, more than half (52.4%) of the babies registered were males (46,001), while females comprised of 41,769 or 47.6 percent. This resulted to a sex ratio of 110 male babies per 100 female babies.

Special Release - Registered Marriages in Davao Region: 2019

Increasing number of Marriages. The number of marriages in Davao Region showed a decreasing trend from 2009 to 2016. It is interesting to note that from 2016 to 2018, the number of marriages in the region was on an increasing trend. From 2018 to 2019, it decreased by 5.9 percent (Table 1 and Figure 1). In 2019, Davao Region recorded a total of 21,901 registered marriages. Most number of couples married in December. Most number of marriages in 2019 occurred in December with 2,384 (10.6% of the total marriages in the region). It was followed by the months of February and June with 10.5 percent and 10.0 percent, respectively (Table 2).

Registered Marriages in Davao Region: 2018

Increasing number of Marriages. The number of marriages in Davao Region showed a decreasing trend from 2009 to 2016. On the other hand, it is interesting to note that from 2016 to 2018, the number of marriages in the region was on an increasing trend (Table 1 and Figure 1). In 2018, Davao Region recorded a total of 23,275 registered marriages. Most number of couples married in June. Most number of marriages in 2018 occurred in June with 2,585 (11.1% of the total marriages in the region). It was followed by the months of May and October with 10.0 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively (Table 2).

Registered Births in Davao Region: 2018

An average of 241 registered babies born daily in the region
A total of 87,834 live births was registered in Davao Region in 2018 which is equivalent to a crude birth rate (CBR) of 17.1 or 17 births per thousand population. On the average, there were about 241 registered babies born daily or 10 babies per hour. The number of registered live births from 2008 to 2016 showed an increasing trend, except in the year 2013. There was a decreasing trend from 2016 to 2018 (Figure 1 and Table 1).
