FISHERIES SITUATIONER REPORT: DAVAO REGION First Quarter 2019

Overall, the total volume of fisheries production in Davao Region was recorded at 15,412.74 metric tons during the first quarter of 2019. It was lower by 4.06 percent compared from 16,064.57 metric tons of production in the same quarter of last year. Of the total fisheries output, about 51.6 percent of the regional production was attributed in the aquaculture subsector. Municipal fisheries contributed 43.88 percent, composed of marine and inland fisheries at 43.50 percent and 0.30 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, production from commercial fisheries showed the least contribution at 4.50 percent during the first quarter of 2019.

RSC XI conducts Second Quarter Meeting

The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) XI held its Second Quarter Meeting for the year on 04 June 2019 at the Conference Hall of NEDA-RDC XI Center, Davao City.

The following were the business agenda of the meeting: (1) Establishment of Statistical Units and/or Positions in National and Local Entities; (2) Creation of Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC); (3) First Semester 2018 Poverty Statistics; (4) Surveys granted clearance through Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System; (5) 2018 Gross Regional Domestic Product; (6) RSC Award; (7) Updates on Philippine Identification System (PhilSys); and (8) 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI). The meeting was presided by the NEDA XI Regional Director and RSC XI Chair, Dir. Maria Lourdes D. Lim.

March 2019 Client Satisfaction Survey: CRS Outlet-Davao

Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) vision is to be solid, responsive and world-class authority on quality statistics and civil registration. A Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS) is regularly conducted to measure if indeed the office is performing as it envisions – Solid, Responsive and World-Class. Clients at the CRS Outlet are asked if are satisfied of the services they have received. Also, results can be used to initiate specific strategies to improve its services. • The March 2019 Client Satisfaction Survey, conducted last March 18 -22, 2019, posted a +89.0% satisfaction rate. Satisfaction rating is measured as the percentage of clients surveyed during the reference period who were either satisfied or very satisfied with PSA’s civil registry services.

Davao Region’s economy posts 8.6 percent growth in 2018

The economy of Davao Region posted an 8.6 percent growth, the second fastest growth among all regions in 2018. This was, however, slower than the 10.7 percent growth recorded in the previous year.

Services grew by 8.1 percent in 2018, faster than the 6.9 percent growth in 2017. The top contributor to growth in Services was the Trade and Repair of Motor Vehicles, Motorcycles, Personal and Household Goods, which grew by 7.4 percent. Sub-industries with faster growth include: Public Administration and Defense; Compulsory Social Security, by 12.9 percent from the 6.5 percent; Financial Intermediation, by 10.4 percent from 6.2 percent; Other Services, by 8.3 percent from 3.8 percent; and Transport, Storage and Communication, by 8.1 percent from 7.2 percent in 2017.

RSC XI conducts 2019 first quarter meeting

The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) XI conducted its first quarter meeting for the year on 27 February 2019 held at the NEDA-RDC XI Center Conference Hall, Bangkal, Davao City. This was presided by NEDA Regional Director and RSC Chairperson, Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim.

During this meeting, following were the business agenda: (1) 2018 RSC XI Accomplishment Report; (2) 2019 RSC XI Agenda Forecast; (3) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Watch; (4) 2018-2023 Regional Statistical Development Program (RSDP) Monitoring Report; (5) 2018 Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS); and (6) 14th National Convention on Statistics (NCS).
