RSC XI conducts 2019 first quarter meeting

The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) XI conducted its first quarter meeting for the year on 27 February 2019 held at the NEDA-RDC XI Center Conference Hall, Bangkal, Davao City. This was presided by NEDA Regional Director and RSC Chairperson, Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim.

During this meeting, following were the business agenda: (1) 2018 RSC XI Accomplishment Report; (2) 2019 RSC XI Agenda Forecast; (3) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Watch; (4) 2018-2023 Regional Statistical Development Program (RSDP) Monitoring Report; (5) 2018 Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS); and (6) 14th National Convention on Statistics (NCS).

Davao region’s inflation down to 4.7% in January 2019

Davao Region’s inflation at the beginning of the year slowed down at 4.7%. Inflation was posted at 5.3% in December 2018 and 4.4% in January 2018. The region’s peso purchasing power remained at 83 centavos. Among provinces, Davao del Sur displayed the highest inflation at 5.5% and lowest in Davao Oriental at 2.9% (see Table 1).

The decrease of inflation was primarily due to the slowdown in the annual increments of almost all of the indices except Communication which was at 1.2% from 0.6% in the previous month. Commodity groups such as Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas

Special Release: 2016 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI)-Economy Wide for Establishment with Total Employment of 20 and Over: Davao Region

Based from the preliminary results of the 2016 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI), the total number of establishments with Total Employment (TE) of 20 and over in the formal sector of the economy was recorded at 35,835.

Across regions, 40.2 percent of establishments in 2016 were located in the National Capital Region (NCR) with a total of 14,414 establishments. CALABARZON with 5,116 establishments or 14.3 percent share ranked second. Central Luzon with 3,311 establishments (9.2%) and Central Visayas with 2,842 establishments (7.9%) placed third and fourth, respectively. Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) recorded the least count numbering to only 103 establishments or 0.3 percent share to total.

Special Release: Livestock and Poultry Situation in Davao Region, as of July 1, 2018

As of July 1, 2018, the total hog inventory in Davao Region stood at 920,603 heads. It slightly grew by 0.99 percent from the previous year’s level of 911,615 heads. About 83 percent or 763,022 heads were raised in backyard farms while the remaining 17.0 percent or 157,581 heads were grown in commercial farms.

Inventory of goat in the region slightly dropped to 320,189 heads. This was lower by 1.40 percent than the previous year’s record. About 99 percent of these stocks were raised in the backyard farms while only a percent was reared in commercial farms.

Special Release: December 2018 Client Satisfaction Survey: CRS Outlet-Davao

It is the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) quality policy to deliver efficient civil registration services to its clients. Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS) was conducted as a process whether clients are satisfied of the services they have received. Also, results can be used to initiate specific strategies to improve its services.

Highlights of the Results of the December 2018 Client Satisfaction Survey

• The December 2018 Client Satisfaction Survey, conducted last December 17 - 21, 2018, posted a +85.5% satisfaction rate. Satisfaction rating is measured as the percentage of clients surveyed during the reference period who were either satisfied or very satisfied with PSA’s civil registry services.
• A net satisfaction rate stood at +84.7%, where Net Satisfaction rating measures the difference between the proportion of satisfied and dissatisfied clients. (Figure 1 shows the comparative over-all satisfaction rate and net satisfaction rate: March, June September and December 2018
• A total 54,715 transactions were processed by the Davao CRS Outlet, operating for 17 days, in December 2018. On the average, 3,219 transactions were processed per day.
