Davao Region’s Inflation down to 1.9% in May

Davao region’s inflation lowers to 1.9 percent in May 2020. The current rate was relatively lesser as compared to the region’s inflation of the same month in the previous year at 3.7 percent. In addition, the purchasing power of the peso (PPP) retained its previous month’s value at 81 centavos (see Table 1).

Davao Region’s inflation retained its previous month’s rate at 2.2 percent for April 2020. The inflation in April was lower as compared to the same month in the previous year at 3.9 percent. Overall, the total volume of fisheries production of Davao Region was recorded at 48,245.89 metric tons during the year 2019. It was lower by 7.2 percent compared from 51,983.43 metric tons production of the previous year.

Davao Region’s fisheries production showed a downward trend within the five-year period. From 59,498.46 metric tons production in year 2015, it was gradually decreasing to 56,670.56 metric tons in year 2017

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) acknowledges the vital role of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in providing assistance in addressing problems arising from the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

We envision the PhilSys to be a strong intervention in ensuring Filipinos have a valid proof of identity as a means of simplifying public and private transactions - most especially at times such as this one. This is the very reason why Republic Act 11055 was passed and why the government wants to embark on such an ambitious and transformative project.
