Fisheries production in Davao Region during the 2nd quarter went up from 11,073.71 metric tons in 2016 to about 12,180.24 metric tons this year or a growth of 9.99 percent. Municipal fisheries had the biggest contribution of 52.39 percent while aquaculture and commercial fisheries shared 40.21 percent and 7.39 percent to total fishery production, respectively. Total population went up by 424 thousand persons • As of 1 August 2015, Davao Region had a total population of 4,893,318 persons based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). • The total population based on the POPCEN 2015 is higher by 424,755 persons compared with the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) count of 4,468,563 persons. Based on the 2007 Census of Population (POPCEN 2007), the total population was 4,159,469 persons. 2014 ASPBI and STEP Forum
The Philippine Statistics Authority XI through the Statistical Operation and Coordination Division conducted a regional dissemination forum on the results of the 2014 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) and the 2014 Survey of Tourism Establishments of the Philippines (STEP) on June 8, 2017 at Sunny Point Hotel, Ma-a Road, Davao City. The 2015-2016 Survey on Food Demand (SFD) results revealed that the estimated annual per capita consumption of rice in Davao Region went down to 94.404 kilograms, 10.77% lower than the 2012 SFD level of 105.798 kilograms (Table 1). All the provinces had shown reduced consumption levels, with Compostela Valley having the largest decline at 33.57%. The economy of Davao Region as measured by the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), posted an accelerated growth of 9.4 percent in 2016 due to the faster growth of industry sector. The Service sector continued to account for the biggest share to the region’s economic output at 51.1 percent. The Industry sector followed with a 36.7 percent share, and Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF) with 12.2 percent share. The percentage share of the Industry to the total output of the region increased, while Services and AHFF shares declined. The Service sector managed to sustain its 7.5 percent growth, with three of its six subsectors posted accelerated growths. The biggest acceleration was observed in Financial Intermediation which grew by 10.2 percent, from 5.5 percent in 2015. Trade accelerated to 7.5 percent from 7.4 percent, while Public Administration & Defense (PAD) grew by 5.1 percent from 2.6 percent. Meanwhile, Transportation, Storage and Communication (TSC) decelerated to 6.4 percent from 9.4 percent growth in the previous year. Real Estate, Renting and Business Activities (RERBA) recorded deceleration with 6.9 percent growth from 8.2 percent in 2015, and Other Services decelerated to 7.9 percent from 8.2 percent.
